These terms apply to every solicitor, mediator, financial adviser, therapist, coach, online divorce service and pension report specialist listed on divorcd, whether the listing is free or paid. You agree to them when you claim or create a listing. They sit alongside our privacy policy and Writing for divorcd.
Who these terms are between
These terms are between DIVORCD LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17502663), registered office 33 Smithies Lane, Barnsley, S71 1RD ("divorcd", "we"), and the business you act for ("you"). The person who claims or creates a listing confirms they are authorised to agree to these terms for that business.
Free listings
- We list some professionals and services free of charge, from public registers and their own websites. A free listing is labelled as listed from public information.
- We aim to keep every listing accurate. We may correct, update or remove a listing at any time, including if its registration can no longer be confirmed.
- We don't publish reviews, ratings or testimonials for anyone, paid or unpaid.
Claiming a listing and our checks
- You must claim or create a listing using a work email address at your business's own web address. We don't accept personal addresses such as Gmail or Hotmail.
- We email a link to that address, and nothing happens until it's clicked. The link works for 48 hours.
- Before any listing is created or any partner place goes live, we check that the person works at the business and that the business is registered with its regulator or professional body where it has one. We may contact the business using the details on its own website. We can decline an application, and if we decline a paid one, we refund it in full.
Founding partner places
- A founding partner place costs the price shown on the For professionals page when you pay. One payment covers two years from the day we approve you. No VAT is added.
- Nothing renews automatically. Before your two years end, we email you the price to continue. If you don't continue, your listing goes back to a free listing.
- A partner place includes the paid listing label, a first place in Find an expert and Get matched for the areas you cover (or the partner label on your comparison listing for online services and pension report specialists), introductions in your partner area, a monthly report, an optional member offer, a client membership code and the option to write articles.
- We charge a flat fee only. We don't charge per introduction or take a share of anything your clients pay you.
- We don't promise any number of views, introductions or clients. Paying never changes the order of our comparison or what our guides say.
Refunds
- If we decline your application, we refund you in full.
- If divorcd closes during your two years, we refund the unused part.
- If we end your place because you've broken these terms, we don't refund the unused part.
What we ask of you
- Keep your details accurate, including your fees, and tell us straight away if your registration, accreditation or regulator changes.
- Follow your own regulator's rules on publicity and promotion. Solicitors must follow the SRA Code of Conduct. Financial advisers must have their firm approve their listing wording, as a listing can be a financial promotion.
- Honour any offer you make to divorcd members, for as long as it's shown.
- Reply to introductions promptly, and close any you can't help with, so we can find the person someone else.
Introductions and personal data
- We pass on a person's details only when they have chosen you and agreed to us sharing them. Once you accept an introduction, you are responsible for that person's information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), as a separate controller.
- Use their details only to respond to what they asked for. Don't add them to marketing lists or pass them to anyone else without their agreement.
- Keep their information secure, and tell us within 72 hours if you become aware of any data breach involving people introduced through divorcd.
- How we handle personal information ourselves is set out in our privacy policy.
Member offers and client codes
- Your member offer is shown only to paying divorcd members. Describe it accurately and say plainly how to claim it.
- Your client membership code is for your own clients. Please don't publish it on your website or social media.
Articles
- Articles must meet the standard in Writing for divorcd: accurate, sourced and useful, never a sales pitch.
- You confirm you have the right to give us the article, and you allow us to publish, edit for accuracy and length, and keep it on divorcd while your place lasts. We may remove an article that stops being accurate.
Pausing or ending a listing
We may pause or end a listing or partner place if your registration lapses or can't be confirmed, if your details are misleading, if you break these terms, or if we receive serious complaints that we can't resolve with you. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you the chance to put things right.
Asking us to remove a listing
You can ask us to remove your listing from the claim page, using a work email at your business's web address and confirming it from the link we send. Before removing a listing, we check the request with the business using the contact details on its own website, so nobody can have someone else's listing taken down. We remove confirmed requests within two working days.
Our responsibility
- divorcd is a guide and directory. We don't give legal or financial advice, and we aren't responsible for the services you provide to your clients.
- Our total responsibility to you under these terms is limited to the fees you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll email partners at least 30 days before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions: [email protected].
