Online and fixed-fee divorce

Online divorce services prepare and track your divorce application for a fixed fee, and some also help you agree your finances. They suit couples who agree on most things. You can also apply yourself on GOV.UK and pay only the £628 court fee, which you pay whichever route you choose.

Is an online divorce right for you?

These services work best when the divorce is agreed and you mainly want help with the forms and the deadlines. Some offer extra help with a financial agreement and the consent order that makes it legally binding. If you disagree about money or children, or your spouse won't respond, you are likely to need more than a paperwork service.

How much does an online divorce cost?

You pay the service's fee on top of the court fee of £628 (GOV.UK court fees). Fees depend on how much help is included, so compare the prices each service publishes and check whether court fees, the £62 consent order fee and any extra steps are in the price you are quoted. Our divorce cost calculator compares the main routes.

How to choose an online divorce service

Check whether regulated lawyers run or supervise the service if you want legal advice, as some only handle paperwork. Read what happens, and what it costs, if your spouse doesn't respond. In Scotland, the simplified procedure lets you divorce without a solicitor if you have no children under 16 and no money to sort out.
